Over 130 years of history

From Strasbourg Hotel to Crystal Hotel

Built during the 19th century, overlooking the Saint Jean Square, known today as the Maginot Square, the hotel was for several decades a hotel restaurant until the early 50's, the Strasbourh Hotel. 

It was a place where celebrations were held !  As it was possible to organize wedding evenings and banquets; concerts even took place in the spacious salons of the first floor, now gone.

A building marked by History: as in 1916, during the First World War when Nancy was bombed and the hotel was partially destroyed.

Hospitality, a Family Legacy, 

Best Western Crystal Hotel is today one of the last hotel in Nancy, to be run by family-owners for 3 generations, the Gatinois Family. In 1976 the hotel was bought by the grand-parents : Jeanne & Bernard Gatinois. Their children, Martine & Bernard, then took over the reins in the 1980s and 1990s and undertook a hotel extension and a renovation. The establishment thus won 20 new rooms, its 3rd star and joined in 1998 the american hotel group Best Western® Hotels & Resorts.

Express time-line:

  • 1988: Extension of the hotel from 38 to 58 rooms and installation of air conditioning

  • 1998: Renovation of 20 rooms and the ground floor, creation of the winter garden, the lounge, the bar and acquisition of the 3rd star under the Best Western brand

  • 2018: Launch of the project "Metamorphosis, further Refinement, Brand new Services". It is as a family that the hotel begins its 3rd transformation and their goal is to move upmarket : by the  acquisition of a 4th star, the creation of new services and by upgrading to the Best Western PLUS brand.

  • 2021: Opening of the new spaces, with 81 rooms, including 61 new rooms in a fully reconstructed building with a brand new lobby, Bar lounge, Rooftop, seminar rooms and a Spa with pool.
