It is our precious jewel. We, the inhabitants of Nancy, fondly call it “Place Stan” and we love to say that it is the most beautiful square in the world. There we meet up with our cherished ones for a drink, to celebrate La Saint-Nicolas or to admire the amazing summer light and sound show “Rendez-Vous Place Stanislas”. It was inaugurated in 1755 by Stanislas Leszczinski, King of Poland afterwards exiled and who had become Duke of Lorraine, in honor of his son-in-law Louis XV. And in 1983 it joined the UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

Carrière Square

Enclosed by the Héré Arch at one of its extremities and by the Governor's Palace at the other end, the Carrière Square is a direct extension of Stanislas Square, opening the way to the old town. Formerly being the theater of games and tournaments, it is now the scene of another form of competition: The 24 Hours of Stan ', a crazy chariot race between the engineering students of Nancy’s universities taking place every two years. In a more serious point, in September it is there that takes place the first literature exhibition of the fall: Le Livre sur la place.

Alliance Square

It is the smallest of the 3 XVIIIth century squares, listed as architecturals collection by the UNESCO including Carrière Square and Stanislas Square. Museum of Fine Arts

The entry to beautiful 35-hectare park is free of charge. There is only a small fee to visit the 2500m² tropical greenhouses. The Botanical Garden Jean-Marie Pelt is a real feast for the eyes. Indeed you will be able to admire among many others the Alpinum, a collection of Alpine plants with its small chapel at its summit, or the many varieties of flowers in the rose garden. "La Pep" is our own "Central Park"! We have so many memories of when we were young. Even now we still enjoy every season with so many things to watch and see : rose garden, zoo, merry-go-round, puppet theater, brasserie, ice-cream maker, miniature-golf, playground, sport-ground...
We also go to "La Pep" to listen to the music during the Nancy Jazz Pulsation festival in October, to buy some local products in the farmer markets several times per year, to danse in front of the auditorium in summer or to have fun in the fair during the all Saints Holidays.

Cathedral of Nancy

TGV Train Station

However shuttles are available so as to connect the two train stations.

Prouvé Congress Centre
